Finding it difficult to continue promoting motorsports from a single dimension perspective, Tuason Racing, under the baton of husband and wife tandem JP and Jeanette Tuason, has decided to level up by taking on Formula Racing.
Tuason Racing School will be introducing Formula V1, a single seater, kit race car assembled in the Philippines in partnership with West Race Cars Japan. This new series will give a faster, more challenging arena for race car drivers who have feel they have graduated from the very successful Vios Cup of Toyota.
The Formula V1 cars are made of 530 kilo tubular steel frame reinforced with aluminum panels for safety and outfitted with a 1.5 liter engine with 110 horsepower, with a top speed of 200 kph. The same cars are popularly raced (almost 200 units in production) in Japan with a similar race series being introduced in China and Taiwan.
West Race Cars, hailing from Suzuka, Japan (where the Formula 1 Track is located) have been in the business of engineering and manufacturing formula kit cars for more than 40 Years. It’s founders, also a huband and wife tandem with Seijiro Kamitami as race engineer and his wife was a Formula 3 Racer.
Formula V1 is intended for intermediate drivers with more racing experience. These are race car drivers who have graduated from grassroots race programs and also experienced racers who wish to make a comeback into the sport. Formula V1 is made to be cost effective by localizing some of the race components to make racing more accessible.
TRS plans to have 4 legs of which will include both sprint and endurance racing for the 2018 season to give a racers a diverse learning curve. The series will debut in 2018 in synergy with the different race series and programs in the country. “Our plan is to align with all the racing programs in the country to create a unified development with everyone enjoying a mutual gain,” said JP Tuason.
“We all need to work together to complete our dreams for the racing Filipinos.” he added.
